What about trade options for Oden?

Monday Aug 3, 2009

The Blazers acquired three great players last year through draft day trades: Roy, Aldridge and Rodriguez.

If you were Pritchard and wanted to trade Oden, what would you want in return (player(s) and pick(s)? (Assume salary issues would be worked out favorably for Portland — like Minnesota eating salary to move KG.)
boy, there sure are a lot of you that are confident that Oden is a can’t miss superstar
i guess i’m just worried beacuse i followed the warriors after moving to the bay area during the joe barry carroll years (trade from Boston for Robert Parish)
i respect that everyone thinks they won’t trade him, but no one really answered my question.

so no best answer for anyone, yet.

Dont trade oden, the blazers arent that stupid….

but unlike what others said, not to build the franchise around oden… We had a great thing going in the end of the season with our guards and aldrige. Id love to see oden on the team to take some of the defensive pressure off our outside and aldrige. I think best case scenario:

Portland Drafts Oden, starts him at center position.
Portland trades Zach Randolph for an established SF/SG who can hit outside and drive (Rashard Lewis?)
Portland builds around the combination of Oden, Aldrige, and Roy/Rodriguez, building up a great inside out game with driving capabilities, and midranged shots… And of course Odens superb defensive skills….

Do not pass ‘Go’ do not collect $200 — build around Oden, stop thinking trade. You build championship teams, you do not ‘buy’ them, even though the Lakers & Yankees seem to think otherwise.

I’m still ticked that he left Ohio State after a year. I hope he stinks in the NBA. And I’m also disappointed in Conley Jr. leaving. He was awesome this past season too. Sigh.

Firstly I would not want to trade oden. But if I were to trade Oden, then I would trade him to the team that drafts MIke Conley for their other best player and multiple first rounds picks in later years

no way they will trade.. they will take oden… but possibly move other players after the draft…

oden, aldridge, roy, make a solid young core… zach randolf is expendable and can easily be traded for a shooter to compliment oden’s post play…

remember also, oden isn’t tim duncan; tim played 4 years of college ball and was mentally and physically ready for the nba… oden has a long summer ahead of him if he wants to make an instant impact; i would say it will take him 2-4 years to be truly effective (look at kwame brown, eddy curry, tyson chandler… even yao, who’s only beginning his dominance)…

but the reason they won’t ‘trade’ is because oden could be duncan; could be the next dominant big man… think 5-10 years down the line; oden could be the most dominant big man in the league (along side dwight howard, amare stoudemire, & chris bosh…)

They don’t. They draft Oden and don’t think twice. But if they really were to consider trading him, it wouldn’t be for more picks this season. It would be for a superstar that can help them win now. KG wouldn’t be enough, because he’s aging and the twolves really don’t have much else to offer. They could include Foye and their draft pick, but I still don’t see it happening. The thing is, to get Oden, a team will have to severely overpay, so no matter what it’s not going to be a good trade.

I would never trade Oden. I am VERY disappointed in the lottery, and sad because i have never, and will never see the celtics finish above .500 in my life. They get screwed every year, and players like oden and durant don’t just come along every five years. Here’s to another decade of Celtic Suckyness.

Go Sox! Go Pats! Go to sleep!

Whoever drafts Oden, they are sure to keep him. He’s just too good to not give a shot. Plus, the first few years on a rookie contract are chump change compared to what other more experienced players are getting.

i would trade him because oden is not ready for the nba because when he goes up on defense he doesnt know what to do block your shot or foul you like andrew bynum they are alike defensively but greg oden is a good offensive player
