i need to use the money in about 4 months

i prefer high returns to saftey

a webite with options would be good too

Invest in Silver, often called "the poor man’s gold". Silver used to be a monetary metal, and maybe some day it will be again. I’ve recommended silver before, and now I’m going to recommend silver again. Back in 1980, gold sold for 850 and silver sold for 50. Then, one ounce of gold would buy 17 ounces of silver. Today with gold near 900, one ounce of gold will buy a whopping 55 ounces of silver. It seems to me that silver, in terms of gold, is "too cheap." You can easily buy it at your local coin dealer… ask to buy 10oz Silver Bullion Bars.

Best guaranteed short term investment options? ?

Monday Aug 3, 2009

I have 50,000 dollars i want to invest in something with a guaranteed rate, government guarantee on my principal, and short term (2 yrs or less). Confused by CD vs. Bond vs. Municipal bond etc…

I think the market will be crummy for another 9 months – sorry all you all mighty optimists.
Cd’s are your safetest investment. They are federally insured and easy to understand.
One thing.
Please do not go through your local bank. The fees they carry for opening brokerage accounts or IRA are unbelievable.
Go through a company like Charles Schwab (my fav) or Fidelity Investments. They offer high paying cd’s on a list. Free to buy.
Never been charged any kind of fee by Schwab – never.
Both companies offer money link, so you can transfer money from your checking to them for free.
If you decide to sell your cd’s, they sell at market value – unlike local banks that will charge 6 months interest.

I was wondering what the best options for short-term car insurance are.?

Monday Aug 3, 2009

My friends and I are going on a road trip this summer. We are buying 12 passenger van for about $1000. We plan on using the van for 2 weeks and then selling it. I live in Ontario and plan on taking the van out west to Vancouver and back. Does anyone have any suggestions for insurance? We have already looked into RBC’s 30-day money back guarantee but that’s a lot of money to dish out even if we are getting it back later.

Simply get a normal 6 month or 1 year policy and cancel it when you get back. You will get a refund for the unused portion.
